01 Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in EEA/UK, or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). By using Splittier you represent you meet this requirement and have legal capacity to enter into these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent you have authority to bind it.
02 The Service
Splittier helps users record, split and settle shared expenses among friends, roommates, travel companions and groups. The Service includes:
- Manual expense entry, group management, balances and settlements.
- AI-powered receipt scanning (OCR).
- AI chat and voice assistant ("Voice Chat Premium").
- Push notifications, friend connections and contact lookup.
- Free and paid subscription tiers.
03 Accounts
To use most features you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information.
- Keep your password confidential.
- Notify us immediately of unauthorized access at [email protected].
- Be solely responsible for all activity under your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are inactive for extended periods or that we reasonably believe are fraudulent.
04 Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful activity, money laundering or tax evasion.
- Upload illegal, defamatory, harassing, infringing or malicious content.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code.
- Scrape, crawl or use bots to access the Service.
- Bypass rate limits, credit limits or technical restrictions.
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your relationship with anyone.
- Upload another person's contact information without a lawful basis.
- Send spam, unsolicited messages or commercial offers.
- Resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service without written permission.
05 User content
You retain ownership of the content you submit (expenses, receipts, photos, messages — "User Content"). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display and process your User Content solely to provide and improve the Service, including transmitting it to AI providers (Google Gemini, ElevenLabs) for OCR and voice features.
You represent you have the rights to all User Content you upload and that it does not violate any law or third-party right.
06 AI features — disclaimer
Splittier uses third-party AI providers for Scan Bill, AI Chat and Voice Chat. AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading. You are solely responsible for verifying AI-generated data before relying on it. We are not liable for losses, miscalculations or disputes arising from AI errors.
AI features consume "AI credits":
- Are non-transferable and have no cash value.
- Are not refundable except where required by law.
- May expire as described in your subscription tier.
07 Subscriptions and payments
Splittier offers Free, Starter, Plus and Premium tiers. Pricing, features and limits are shown in the app and may change with notice.
7.1 Billing
- iOS: billed by Apple through your App Store account.
- Android: billed by Google through Google Play.
- Web: billed by Stripe.
7.2 Auto-renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal. Manage and cancel:
- iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions
- Android: Google Play → Subscriptions
- Web: Account → Subscription
7.3 Trials
If a free trial is offered, your paid subscription begins automatically when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then.
7.4 Refunds
All purchases are final and non-refundable, except where required by law. App Store / Google Play refund requests must be submitted to Apple or Google. For Stripe, contact [email protected].
7.5 Price changes
We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. If you do not agree, cancel before the new price takes effect.
08 Intellectual property
The Service, including all software, designs, logos, text and trademarks (excluding User Content), is owned by SoadTech, LLC and its licensors and protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.
"Splittier" and the Splittier logo are trademarks of SoadTech, LLC.
09 Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services (Apple, Google, Stripe, Twilio, Resend, ElevenLabs, AppsFlyer, MongoDB Atlas, etc.). Your use is subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.
10 Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
11 Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE"WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT EXPENSE CALCULATIONS, OCR RESULTS, AI OUTPUTS OR CURRENCY CONVERSIONS ARE ACCURATE OR ERROR-FREE.
You use the Service at your own risk.
12 Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE COMPANY, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.
13 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SoadTech, LLC and its affiliates from any claim, damage, liability or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your User Content, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of any law or third-party right, or (d) your use of the Service.
14 Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms, create risk for us or other users, or if required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive (Intellectual Property, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law) survive termination.
15 Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to the arbitration clause below, any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts in Delaware.
15.1 Informal resolution
Before filing any claim, contact us at [email protected] and allow us 60 days to resolve the dispute informally.
15.2 Binding arbitration (US users)
You and SoadTech agree to resolve disputes by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, in English, in Delaware (or remotely). The arbitrator's decision is final.
15.3 Class action waiver
Disputes will be resolved on an individual basis only. Class actions, class arbitrations and representative actions are not permitted.
15.4 Opt-out
You may opt out of arbitration by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of first accepting these Terms with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out".
15.5 EEA/UK users
If mandatory law in your country grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts, nothing in this section limits that right.
16 Apple-specific terms (iOS)
If you use the Service on iOS, you acknowledge these Terms are between you and SoadTech, LLC, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or any related claims. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
17 Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by in-app banner or email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
18 Miscellaneous
- Entire agreement — these Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement.
- Severability — if a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No waiver — our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver.
- Assignment — you may not assign these Terms; we may in connection with a merger, acquisition or asset sale.
- Force majeure — we are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond our reasonable control.
- Notices — we may send notices to your registered email.
